cats. Can't live with them, can't live without... wait...
Walking to school this morning, I hear a faint meow. I eventually track it down to the neighbor's front steps. Look to each side, expecting to see a screen or mesh that a cat had wiggled through. Completely solid. Look at a couple of missing slats. They have solid board backing them. Stare mystified at the meowing steps. Finally see, through a half inch gap to one side, a yellow eye. It is in fact, *my* meowing cat, Cinder. To get her out I had to move a board and break away some rotted wood; I have no clue how she managed to get in in the first place.

Cats are magic. They go be-boppin' along, and think, "Cool, the tip of my nose fits in this hole." Not much later, they are stuck inside the hole and cannot figure out how to get out. Eventually mystified humans free the kitty to wonder HOW. Well, they are MAGIC. When we aren't around, they plot new ways to annoy us. "Oooh, she's at the computer again. This time I'll sit on her keyboard and proceed to clean my crotch. That should gross her out and annoy her!"

Makes more sense than anything I came up with. Granted, she's only 5 pounds or so, but I wouldn't have though she could fit through a half inch...
