I am most put out. I soaked some of my giant jar of dried shitake, and discovered that while I adore fresh shitake, dried shitake is the mushroom that makes me violently ill from just smelling it. I've known for a while that there's a sort of mushroom that shows up occasionally in vegetarian potstickers and the like that revolts me, but I never identified it.

Now I know. I tried to nerve myself up to sauteeing some of them and seeing if they tasted better with spices, but the memory and the smell were making me ill, so down the disposal they went.
