I've discovered that save for one time, the EDD folks are very helpful when you get them on the line, but getting through to them is hell. I've been calling every 15 minutes for the last two days and only now finally made it. I couldn't even get into the queue, I just got the 'maximum number of calls in the queue, try back later' message every time. I was beginning to get a little panicky, since a missing check means a missing submission form too, and I needed to file for the last two weeks.
My current music is one of the reasons I'm in love with kazaa and audiogalaxy. It's one of my favorite songs ever, but I've never been able to get a real copy. Just my nearly 20 year old copy of it dubbed off the radio, on a tape so delicate I'm afraid to play it anymore.
Even sending my sister to England to get a copy failed. Well, she was actually going to England for other reasons, but she faithfully looked through three stores, including the giant HMV in London, and couldn't find anywhere. Of course, I did get to mock her, because Mom and her and mocked me when I had explained that I hadn't put any music on my Christmas list because I didn't think they could find any of the groups I liked. So I gave her a list. And they couldn't find them. Ha. It was the height of new wave, I had obscure tastes.
But this was my favorite of all the things I had asked her for. I looked for it on the internet periodically, once discovering a John Peel session tape with the single attached. I cackled with glee and tried to order it, only to discover that it was indefinitely out of stock.
So when I finally gave into the downloading music meme, it was one of the first things I thought to look for. And it came up instantly. And I don't care what the RIAA thinks about that.
